A group of ten convicted of cyber-bullying directed at Brigitte Macron

A Paris court has convicted ten people for carrying out the cyber-bullying of Brigitte Macron, the wife of France's leader, Emmanuel Macron.

The those on trial faced charges of spreading fabrications regarding her gender identity and sexuality, in addition to publishing defamatory statements about the pair's age disparity of 24 years.

The court handed down suspended jail terms of as much as eight months to the perpetrators. The complete verdict has still to be made public.

A persistent unfounded claim claiming that Brigitte Macron is a trans woman has existed since her husband's rise to the presidency in 2017.

This Monday's court decision in France is concurrent with the Macrons initiating a libel case in the United States against conservative commentator Candace Owens, who has repeatedly shared comparable unfounded claims about the Brigitte Macron's gender.

Their lawsuit contends that Owens ignored all credible evidence that refuted her assertions opting to platforming known conspiracy theorists.

Owens has often echoed these claims on her podcast and social networks, and in March 2024 stated that she would risk all her credibility on her insistence that Mrs. Macron is in fact a man.

Brigitte Macron originally became acquainted with her future husband when she taught at his high school.

The couple entered into matrimony in 2007, when the man who would become president was 29 and she was in her mid-50s.
